Forza Italia, Forza Azzuri! ! ! Hold back 1st 10 miles, pick up your pace (negative split) 2nd 10, then hang on last 10K. You can and will do it! Or no wine for you.

Good luck Tommaso, buddy! I hope you tapered - with all the challenge pressure and cheap cocktails that were available to you
You already know from past experience, but respect old man marathon -- don't go out too fast. I like abelisle's advice. Here's another one from Jeff Galloway, master trainer: take a 30 second walk break every 4-5 miles to freshen your legs. Sounds crazy but has worked wonders to me physically and mentally.
Take some time afterwards to journal your account in grueling detail, then please email me (us) it!

Hey Tomasso, best of luck in your race! Lots of good advice in this thread, and I'm sure that you will manage your pace and reach your goal. I'll be doing a long run on Sunday and will be thinking of you. Have a great race!!!!!

I will be seeing you next month at the A1A Marathon to toast the Miami contingent's best runners in this Winter Warm up challenge. I understand that the Miami boat show will be going strong that same weekend. Another reason to lift a glass.
The weather should be nice with light rain to keep you cool.
