Although the Nike+ system was not designed for podcast or audiobook playback, two workarounds are available.
Option 1: To listen to one podcast episode or audiobook chapter/section, start the audio before you start the workout.
1) Select "Music > Podcasts" or "Music > Audiobooks" and begin playing the track you wish to hear, 2) Return to the main menu, select "Nike + iPod" and go through the options to start the workout type of your choice.
Option 2: To listen to more than one podcast episode or audiobook chapter/section during a workout without having to ending that workout and start another (continuous playback).
1) In iTunes, select "File > New Playlist" to create an untitled playlist. 2) Repeat this step for each separate chapter, section, or podcast for playback availability during your workout. Give each playlist sequential titles that are easy to recognize, such as "Chapter 1" or "Podcast 1." 3) Select "Library > Podcasts" or "Library > Audiobooks" and click the podcast or audiobook of your choice so that the episodes and/or chapters or sections are all individually listed. 4) Drag and drop each episode, chapter, or section into a playlist so that they are in sequence. 5) Select your iPod from the "Devices" list and click the "Music" tab. 6) Select "Sync Music" and "Selected playlists," and then check the playlists you've just created as well as any other playlists you'd like to sync. 7) Click "Sync" in the lower right-hand corner.
Note for iPod nano users: Create separate playlists for each episode, chapter, or section so that when one ends, another can be selected through the "Change Music" option while the workout is in progress.
Note for Pod touch 2nd Gen or iPhone 3G S users: You can also create a playlist composed of the playlists you've just created, and listen to all of your episodes, chapters, or sections in sequence.
